Long Island - Day of Worship

Our day worshiping our Lord was spent first having breakfast with Sam's Sunday School Class, and then for the second service at the Dix Hills Church. The Whole service was put together well, Sam played piano along with the full ensemble praise band. Pastor's message was great - makes me want to go and reread 1 Kings and the story of Elijah being fed by ravens again. I always enjoy hearing a perspective on the intricacies of a piece of scripture I had not heard in the same way before.
After the service, we had a great 'linner' of Pot Roast Sam had prepared in the crock-pot (Sam can Cook!) it was great, full of flavor - and tender too.
We took one more walk around the church grounds, said our goodbyes, and started to be on our way - until Mike-y decided to make a run for it. Sam probably chased him a 1/4 mile down the street before he caught 'em. Glad that Mike-y didn't get hit or hurt on the road.
3 hours later - back home in PhillyTowne again.
We're planning on visiting again - We really had fun seeing Sam Again! - And I want to check out that Long Island Seafood - Next time RoadAbode is going on the Trip! - Just have to figure out all the low overpasses on Long Island.....

Busy, Fun Saturday - Long Island Fun

Woke around 8am looked at cartoons, and took Mike-y the Dog for a walk around the property with Lizzy, Amy & the girls. Mike-y even tried the slide in the playground.

After our walk, we went to get breakfast at the local bagel shop. It was crowded, and I felt like I was ordering a Pat's Cheesesteak without knowing the "Special Code", but it was worth the wait! The Bagel Sandwiches were Hot, crisp and 'delish'. We went back to Sam's, hung out, and then he offered to show us some sights. After checking on directions and a quick visit with the Pastor (also a former Philly-Boi)

We headed out to a place called Sports Plus. The place was amazing - Ice skating, Lazer Tag, bowling, arcade, and carnival-type rides, all under one roof! We had a ball playing skee-ball and doing all types of other games. The girls even won some prizes with the tickets they collected. Sam did say the place was going to be closing, which is a shame - we could use more places like this for youth events!

After our fun @ Sports Plus, Sam took us to the Gold Star Battalion Beach at Huntington Harbor. Saw lots of boats and such and enjoyed a walk over to the dog park there.
We headed back to the shopping district of Huntington, and just took in the sights and window-shopped. After a good day of exploring, the girls got to play with Mike-y a little more, and then Lizzy treated us to a great Mexican Restaurant, and we filled ourselves with excellent Rotisserie Chicken, Black Beans, and Rice - and excellente fresh salsa and Chips. - Great Dinner! Great Day!

Frozen RoadAbode

We made the decision not to take RoadAbode up to long Island - This time. She had lots of ice & snow on her roof, and not enough time to properly clean her off. Plus, Sam had offered that we could stay in his home - so we took him up on it.
Met Ms. Lizzy at the RPC parking lot and headed out a little after 6pm.
Roads were pretty straight forward - until we crossed the bridge into Long island. Imagine driving on twisty-turny Lincoln Drive - only for about an hour. We made it though, and got to Dix Hills Church - Where Sam is the Associate Pastor - a little after 9pm.
We sat and talked for a little - Sam had to finish youth group. When he returned, watched a little of the RPC Agape Dinner DVD, Played Video Games, and called it a night.
Great to see Sam!

Too Long

Too Long without a post.
Haven't posted since Beginning of December! Well - Hopefully that should change - We're Heading Out to Long Island Soon!
Stuff has happened, but nothing major. Got some nice Solar Lights for RoadAbode, and a new Shade room, and some leveling blocks. Have visited RoadAbode a few times, ran her genset. Think my air compressor died though, will have to look at that.
Will report from the road soon - Ya-Hoo!
